1. At what age did you discover that you have a talent for singing and songwriting and how did you find out?

I’ve always felt I was born to be an entertainer and I’ve always loved singing. As a child, I was always singing and dancing. And then I started writing down my thoughts and feelings, which quickly converted into song lyrics when I was a teenager. I actually discovered that I had a voice, when the leading role for the final act in a show I was in, suddenly got sick. The producer heard me singing to myself in the wardrobe changing, and she run in and yelled: You can sing – you can fill in! And so I did – and then I discovered I had a voice to bring out to the audience, and not just for singing in the shower.

2. What is the most important thing to you that the audience understands your music and the feelings within it or to take from it what they want?
The most important thing to me is that the audience is moved one way or another from my music. That it provokes some sort of emotional stir within people, whether it will be happiness, sadness or something else. I really want to touch people with my music – through love, joy and make them get up and dance.

3. What are your long-term career goals?
My main goal and dream has always been working with music. It’s my ultimate passion and I’m currently working on my album.

4. Do you have any plans for a new CD release soon? If so, can you give us some insights?
I’m working on my album at the moment. It’s an insight to myself as a quite diverse artist.

5. What is your favorite track song from your national songs that had participated in Eurovision until now?

I have to say one of my favorite track songs from the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix was Silya with her song “Euphoria”. She is a great friend and I loved her stage performance as well. But of course also Alexander Rybak with his remarkable “Fairytale”, Maria Haukaas Mittet with “Hold on, be strong” and Nora Brockstedt with “Voi, voi”.

6. What do you think about Romania’s song in Eurovision this year – Mandinga – Zaleilah? What things do you know about Romania?
I think Romania’s song is an extremely joyful, cool and upbeat summer hit! And Mandinga is a very beautiful girl! I love that she has both bagpipe and accordion with her. It’s a very good song! I haven’t been in Romania yet, but I would love to come to your country and visit Transylvania and see the stunning castles.

7. What do you like to do for fun apart from music?
My friends and family are very important to me. Staying in touch with them and spending time with them is one of my favorite things to do. My friends are a blast to be with, and I love my family more than anything in the world!

8. Can you tell us a bit about your song and the message that it shares? What does it make it original from all the other participant songs this year?
For me “Stay” represents a release into something that really moves you. It’s about devoting yourself to your passion through the music. I love how it’s upbeat and explosive all at once and I feel it truly generates joy.

9. What do you think about performing on the Eurovision stage this year? What is your worst fear about it?
I’m very excited about being on stage this year! It’s definitely an intimidating thing to make my debut internationally live in the Eurovision Song Contest. I would say my worst fear about being onstage would be that something seriously wrong could happen – anything from a wardrobe mishap to forgetting the dance steps. But I think of this as an opportunity for a lifetime – and I’m looking forward to show the whole of Europe what I’m good for 🙂

10. What do you think about the history of this competition? It evolved or not throughout years and why do you think that?
I have to admit that I haven’t really followed the competition throughout the years, but I have watched it from time to time. My biggest memory is Gina G in her golden dress, singing Oh ah – just a little bit. But now, when I actually entered myself, I’m all about Eurovision! I think the song contest has evolved in time, mainly to fit what is a general mainstream in the music industry today. Of course the entries throughout the years represent what is trendy for that particular year, and I believe that is also the case this year.

11. What do you like the most in this competition?
I enjoy the entire process of the competition! From the rehearsals, to the networking, to the fans, to making the music and of the course the ACTUAL event! Let’s make Baku 2012 one for the books!

12. What would make you happy this year, talking about Eurovision Song Contest 2012?
I would be very happy making it to the grand finale, but my ultimate goal is of course winning! My main purpose of this event is being able to reach out to people all across Europe and creating joy through music!

13. Leave us a message for all our readers and your Romanian admirers.
I would like to thank all of my fans for so much love and support! It’s absolutely overwhelming and so appreciated. Let’s rock Eurovision 2012! See you all in Baku!
