I am very happy that I will represent Cyprus in Eurovision 2018, with the song “Fuego”. Since the moment they gave me the song I loved it. I am also excited that the Eurovision contest is in Portugal that is a very nice country!! I feel that I am going to the biggest party in the world.
Your song, “Fuego”, was one of the most expected songs this year. Tell us a bit about its story and message.
I am really happy that I am cooperating with Alex Papakostantinou. The song gives a message about people that they have started from zero and they have hard time in their life and they did something big & good, they did their dreams come true. It is reality and it perfectly expresses me, especially the lyrics “Coz I’m way up and I ain’t comin’ down, keep taking me higher”, “Coz I’m burning up” it means a lot to me. Este realitatea si vorbeste perfect despre mine, in special versurile „Coz I’m way up and I ain’t comin’ down, keep taking me higher”, “Coz I’m burning up” inseamna mult pentru mine.
Which has been by far the most exciting experience from your musical career?
Every musical part of my life is important and exciting, and Eurovision is going to be one of my most exciting experience in my musical career.
We know that you have Greek origins. Why have you decided to compete for Cyprus and how do you feel about competing against another beautiful and talented woman in the competition, Yianna Terzi?
I was born in Albania and I came in a very early age in Greece, so I grow up in Greece. Yes someone will think that I can represent Greece in Eurovision contest and I will be happy & honored to do that, but unfortunately that didn’t happen.
But Cyprus propose to me and I was really happy about it and then I heard the song that I liked it a lot, so I didn’t spent time to think about it and I just said YES!!
How will your show on the Lisbon stage look like?
Show is going to be a Show (smiling), we will dance, enjoy, have fun, we are going to party.
Which of your opponents do you consider to be the fearest?
There is no opponent and generally there are no opponents in a music party. Now whatever the commission vote and what also people/fans every one vote and goes first place this country will deserve it. For me as I said before is a music party, I am going to have a great time and that the music brings people together or let me say countries together is what I love about this Contest / Event. if you put it like that then I have 43 countries but I can’t see it like that, is a music party!!!!
How is the woman, Eleni, behind stage? What does success mean to you? / Cum este femeia, Eleni, in culise? Ce inseamna succesul pentru tine?
Eleni behind the stage is just a girl that is creative, that fights, works hard. I love what I do! She is transformed to a simple girl and what I do is the most important thing for me, with that I wake up every morning and I sleep every night. My job gives me energy, it’s a way to express and it’s nice that I have found a way to express myself and to make me feel full!
