Hello, Snap, Hello Penny and welcome to Romania! How are you feeling about concerting here again? / Buna, Snap! Buna, Penny!
I love Romania! Most of my friends in Germany are Romanian, so I am feeling great to be on your land. I have been here many times and I love it here! It’s awesome! / Iubesc Romania!
How do you personally feel that you have evolved throughout all these years? / Cum simti ca ai evoluat personal de-a lungul tuturor acestor ani?
I have learnt so much about the world, I have received an education that you can’t buy in university and I’ve learnt to pace myself, because I’m getting older with doing this and it gets difficult to put up with. I am very happy with where the SNAP! brand is going right now.
Your song “The power” has been an evergreen dance anthem from its release and until now. When you released this song, have you ever thought it would have such an impact over people?
No, none of us had. When I sang it, back in 90’s, I just thought it would be a studio session just like the others and nothing will happen. I don’t think that anyone could expect to have a song in their carreer that has a global impact that „The power”has had. It’s much a blessing.
Back to 90s, which were the most amazing moments lived during that period and what do you miss the most from those years? / Inapoi in anii 90, care au fost cele mai frumoase momente traite in acea perioada si ce va lipseste cel mai mult din acele vremuri?
I think that one of the most impactful things was one of the first things we did. We were the first band of our kind to play in East Germany before the war came down, for 350.000 people. It was an amazing concert and it was just when the people started to gain their freedom on the East side, so that was amazing, And, from those times I’ve missed a lot of things because I was moving so fast and I could not realize at that moment how big this song („The power”) is. But I think that I miss being a bit younger (laughs).
How are you feeling back on stage? Do you consider continuing to be here? / Cum te simti inapoi pe scena? Ai in vedere o continuare a carierei tale?
Yes, I always say that I know that Tina Turner is retired, but as long as she will be able to get on the stage, I have no complaints. And as long as I continue to bring people happiness, like I am now, I will continue to do it.
In your opinion, music nowadays can and does have the same impact like back in the 90’s? / In opinia voastra, muzica de azi poate si are acelasi impact precum cea din anii ’90?
I don’t think so, and that is why we are still able to still tour and pack up arenas with 90’s music. People ask all the times if we make new music and I’m like, for what? People are still loving the old music, so we give the people what they want.
Which do you consider to be the major differences between then and now?
Now it’s not so much about music, as it is about branding, marketing and advertising and promotion. So, I think what happened was that creative had a trainwreck with corporate. And that’s where we are now. And people feel music, so they go to see the music that bring them the most feelings. Si in punctul asta ne aflam acum.
What is the fact that your fans has never known about you until now?
I love music from all different countries and my Romanian fans are all surprised to know that I like Salam & Guta (laughs)/ Iubesc muzica din diferite tari, iar fanii mei din Romania sunt surprinsi sa stie ca imi place muzica lui Salam si Guta ( rade).
Which is the biggest aim that you have now for the nearest future?
I plan to make the Snap show and the Snap brand bigger on the stage. And not be just a 90’s act, but to be a current act from the 90’s.
How do you see Snap in 10 years?/ Cum vezi proiectul Snap peste 10 ani?
I actually see Snap doing what are they doing now, because this is what people like, they like our songs from then. I think that most of the people who came to our concerts were teenagers then and they like to relive those days when things were great and they did not have any care in the world. I have not changed the show in 10 years, because if it is working, why fixing? Sometimes you fix it and break it.
