EUROVISION 2023 MOLDOVA | VICTOR GULICK : "My play is about facing all obstacles and remaining optimistic."

This year Daily Magazine wanted more from the overall concept Eurovision Song Contest and, after a brief foray into Norway, we continue our journey with a special series of interviews dedicated to the finalists of the National Selection in Republic of Moldova, a country that year after year has brought beautiful surprises and quality artists to the most important European music competition. After the 2 video interviews, from the Star Talks series, already made with Sunstroke Project and Pasha Parfeni. 

So today we present the young artist Victor Gulick. At the age of 15 he took his first guitar lessons. That's when he wrote his first lyrics. After several of his own songs, he organized his first rock band, with which he played actively in clubs in Chisinau, at festivals and other events, as a guitarist and vocalist. In addition, he travels as a session guitarist to events in neighbouring countries. At the age of 25, he changed his occupation and mastered the profession of a sonnet player. But music wins, and in 2015 Victor started his activity as a guitarist in various cover bands, with which he works both in Moldova and abroad. However, he continues to write his own songs and compose music. In 2019, he takes singing lessons and changes his profile from guitarist to vocalist. Since 2021, he is the leader of his own group "Aglet".

 What does Eurovision mean to you?

For me Eurovision is a talent contest where everyone can express their own identity.

What defines you as an artist? Describe yourself in 3 famous Eurovision songs.

For me as an artist, a variety of musical styles defines me. I don't want to be stuck in one style, that's why I chose the following 3 tracks which are also different.

What do you think differentiates you to be the artist representing Moldova in 2023?

Track. It is not typical for Eurovision.

What is the story and message of your play?

In today's time, when many suffer from the hardships of life, it's time to do what you can to make your loved ones feel more protected. My play is about facing all obstacles and remaining optimistic.

What details can you reveal about the national final show?

Dacă piesa este despre îndemnul de a dansa … Vom dansa! Sper că se va primi bine un dans fierbinte și molipsitor.

How do you urge the public to vote for you in the national final?

In fact I would urge the audience to vote for the artist and song that really touched their heart, that will be on the money. And I will try to touch as many hearts as I can.

What's next after Eurovision?

After Eurovision I will return to my artistic life. Not long ago I released a new single that I haven't yet managed to present as I wanted. The song is called "Top of my emotions". I also still have songs in reserve that I am going to finish and present.

Participants will perform in the National Final on 4 March with a full show, including choreographic concept and stage costumes. The contestant or band with the highest score will represent Moldova in Liverpool, where the International Stage of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 will take place.
