Jennifer Lopez to release new album this summer
Jennifer Lopez recently announced that her new album, "This Is Me... Now," will be released this summer. Pop star and actress J Lo will release her first studio album in nearly a decade in just a few months.
Speaking at Spotify's Stream On event on Wednesday (08.03.2023), Jennifer said:"My next album "This Is Me... Now" comes out this summer. You are the first to know. I'm super excited." The new songs are about her rekindled love for Ben Affleck, the artist's husband.
The "Jenny From The Block" star previously explained that "This Is Me... Now" is a follow-up to her 2002 album "This Is Me... Then".
"I captured this moment when I was reunited with the love of my life and decided we would be together forever. The whole message of the album is:"This love exists. This is true love". Now I think the message of the album is, if you've lost hope, if you've almost given up, don't, because true love exists and some things last forever, and this is real”
Jennifer was previously engaged to Ben, but they broke up in 2004 before they could exchange vows. The two resumed their relationship in 2021 and finally got married last summer.
The singer admits it was hard to show her vulnerable side in her new songs, but she's glad she was open and honest.
Jennifer continued: "I want to give this message [of true love] to everyone and that requires a lot of vulnerability. But I couldn't stop myself and some parts of the album scare me. And I think parts of this album even scare Ben, who said to me, "Do you really want to reveal all this stuff?" And I said, "I don't know how else to do it, baby.".
Her previous album "This Is Me... Then" talked about her previous relationship with Ben, and Jennifer admits that Ben is a big fan of that album as well.
